It’s that time again. Folks are starting to prepare menus, solidify travel plans, and decide who’s cooking what? The challenge in my community, more and more, especially if we’re not cooking the meal ourselves, is how do we keep healthy, organic, artisinal foods on our table. I’m a member of Slow Food USA, a non-profit organization whose mission it to “envision a future food system that is based on the principles of high quality and taste, environmental sustainability, and social justice – in essence, a food system that is good, clean and fair…” That’s directly from their site as I can’t say it better than that. They have this super cool listing on their site called Ark of Taste which lists foods that are in danger of extinction from disuse! Buying products from this list supports local, organic farmers and fading food traditions. Think about buying some foods on this list for your holiday and daily table. There’s a turkey on the list.

Send me your comments on Slow Food and how everyone else tackles prepping a healthy Thanksgiving meal.
