Don’t Let the Holidays Sabotage Your Fitness Goals
The holidays are best marked as times for togetherness, family, shared moments and reflection, not an excuse to overindulge. Thus far, I’ve spent time with family, co-workers, dear friends and neighbors. I’ve had more yummy and tempting food choices put in my face over the last week than I have all year. But when I talk to folks or hear remarks of, “Well it’s the holidays, I’ll get back on my diet after the New Year…” that always gets me. Even with richer foods, baked goods, and once a year specialties, you can still make smart eating choices. At the office, find another route past the company kitchen if that’s were goodies are left out; if you know you’re going to a party in the evening, have a light sensible lunch; before going out – pick up some celery and carrot sticks and snack on those while getting dressed; also start the evening with a white wine spritzer and try and stay clear of the egg nog. It’s also nice during the holidays to treat yourself to a healing treatment to keep the body firm and detoxed – perhaps a massage coupled with steam or sauna. Just be conscious of what you decide to indulge in. And just remember – it’s all about choices and you are in control!
Namaste,
Michelle
