The Little Red Haired Girl

Over the years, I’ve given many a Valentine’s Day cards, to friends, family, co-workers, and, of course, to the cute little red haired girl in class. But this year, another cute red haired girl (more like red hot mama, actually) gave me a better way to send a Valentine’s Card and to Save the Children at the same time.
Julianne Moore and her Hopeful Hearts Program are giving you and your family a way to send some love to those closest to you and to children across the country. By making a donation to Save the Children, you can print out or email beautiful Valentine’s Day cards featuring children’s artwork to give to classmates, friends and family. Your donation will help children in the United States through early childhood education, literacy, physical activity and nutrition programs.
“Recently, I visited one of the poorest, most remote communities in the mountains of Appalachia, where Save the Children has worked for more than 75 years. In a land of such wealth and prosperity, it is shocking to see so many children and their families struggling to get by. In fact, in rural America, one in five children lives in poverty,” said Moore.
“These programs are helping to foster children’s love of reading by teaching new moms about early learning activities for their young children and helping struggling students overcome obstacles to reading,” she continued.
What more can you ask for out of a simple card?
So this Valentine’s Day, spread the love across the land! It’s not too late to send an email card. Because contrary to what you may have heard, these children have been left behind.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Bob
