You Can Do It - Your Online Friends Can Help
Committing to an exercise routine and living a healthy lifestyle takes effort. Some days, you need to lean on your friends for a little support. Finding an exercise partner is a common workout strategy. Partners make you commit to a schedule, provide feedback and give encouragement. I’ve noticed this trend moving online lately with twit2fit, Wellphone and Goal Post.
twit2fit is simply a group on Twitter (a messaging service) that share their workout stories and send messages of encouragement to each other. Groups like these put quick advise and motivation right at your finger tips, literally! As you ask questions and send updates, others will see your messages and know you’ve joined the group. If you stop sending messages, they could contact you and see what’s up - or what’s not up. That’s motivation. twit2fit is free to join and easy to use.
Wellphone is a text messaging service created by Wellsphere. With Wellphone you can enter your goals and get workout reminders sent right to your phone. This service is great if you want to keep your infomation private. If you take the time to create a workout schedule and have your phone remind you, you’ll more likely to follow through.
Goal Post, the Facebook app which we’ve previously covered, is similar to twit2fit. In Goal Post, you create “accountability buddies” who encourage you to keep working towards your fitness and life goals. The application works well because you have to select your buddies from your existing list of friends. No one will keep you moving towards your goal like your friends.
All in all, these services are well worth trying if you’re looking for some extra support. I joined twit2fit and I’ll be updating it via my Twitter account (TheSchnaz.)
Need some encouragement right now? Drop me a comment!
