During our ritual weekly dog walk in Central Park my friend Colleen whipped out a treat for her sweet Pongo. Except this week it was something different. She placed it on the ground. I watched as he licked a tub of frozen yogurt clean; he really loved it, with his little nose deep inside the smell of Peanut Butter. It was so humorous to watch that I almost forgot how healthy this snack really was for her dog.

You can make this at home for a fraction of the price. I’ve been making my dog his own organic yogurt treats for years. He loves them on hot days. Here’s a basic recipe:
Ingredients (I use organic if I can):
- 1 large container plain fat-free yogurt
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1 banana (optional)
- 1/4 cup frozen blueberries (optional)
Instructions:
Mash the banana (if using), mix with the yogurt and peanut butter until smooth. Fold in blueberries (if using). Pour into ice cube trays and freeze overnight. Pop the treats out the next day and store in a bag or container in the freezer.
