Six Foods Men Shouldn’t Live Without
As you know, I recently wrote about food and its effects on mood. Now I’m are going to explore a few of the other benefits of foods, from prostate protection to sex drive. The six foods listed here should be on every man’s grocery list.
Nuts for Prostate Health
Brazil nuts are one of the best sources of selenium, a mineral which is said to lower the chances of prostate cancer. Don’t just go around eating brazil nuts till you’re blue, however. Selenium is toxic in larger doses. Keep it under 400mcg / day.
Feel Blue
The Blueberry has enjoyed immense popularity over the past few years due to its abundance of antioxidants. These antioxidants protect the neurons of the brain from oxidation. Remember to eat your blueberries and you will remember more later in life.
Lentils Provide an Energy Boost
Lentils are packed with fiber, so they will keep you regular. They are also full of muscle building protein and b vitamins to keep the guns big. Lentils digest slowly, giving you a steady stream of energy.
Edamame – Mood Enhancer?
For anyone who doesn’t know, edamame is soybeans; green soybeans still in the pod. I tried some recently at a sushi restaurant and was impressed. They are salty though, so you may want to tell them to go easy on the salt. Edamame is rich in fiber, omega-3 fatty acids and protein. Protein helps to stabilize blood sugar, preventing the laziness or depressed feelings that can come from blood sugar crashes.
Something Fishy
Sardines are great sources of protein, omega-3 fatty acids and are low in saturated fat. For this reason, they make great muscle building snacks during the day. If you eat the bones as well, then you can also get your daily fill of calcium.
Sesame Seeds Provide “Big” Benefits
These days you can’t turn on the television without seeing ads for products like extenze, maxoderm or enzyte. Instead of blowing big loads of money on these, head to the health food store and buy sesame seeds. Sesame seeds contain arginine – the amino acid responsible for synthesizing nitric oxide, which increases blood flow through the arteries and to your manly parts.
Let your pockets grow. Instead of dishing out money on expensive supplements, go to the grocery store and reap the big benefits of buying real food.
