beYOU.tv Radio - How to be HealthaliciousYour first question may well be, “What is Healthalicious” let alone, how can I be Healthalicious. That’s a fair question.

Our guest this week, transformation guide, Jan Shepherd may not have heard of the word before today, but she’s been living it for quite some time now, having maintained a 200 pound weight loss for over 10 years. “I have yo-yoed between a size two to a size 32,” Jan shares. “I must have tried every diet ever invented and made up some on my own. My highest weight was 350 pounds. Every diet and program only led to more weight gain until I finally learned how to heal myself through the techniques of Personal Transformation.”

Jan now lives her life from a spiritual perspective and I believes that all roads lead to God. For most of the past decade, she has committed her life to helping others as a Transformational Guide, working closely with individual clients and families. She has spoken before audiences both large and small and used her trained intuitive awareness combined with her life experience. As a mentor, guide, and teacher, she had helped many to Transform their lives and experience all that life has to offer. Listen to what she has to say and find out how you can work with Jan to start your own transformation.

Jan’s Healthalicious transformation is certainly inspiring and many of you have also shared with us your own definition of being Healthalicious. Here’s what you had to say:

“Striving to be conscious at all times about what you are trying to achieve spiritually, physically and mentally. Never let anyone else decide what your goals are, invest in you and your goals are always achieved. Enjoy life, work hard, play harder and know you are more than you believe!” Lizetta Smith, Tuscon

“Being able to enjoy sex, walking on the beach, and great grandchildren until my old bones just fall apart!” Karen Goss, Florence OR

“Being fit, being able to run around with my 5 kids, to look good for myself….” Mother of 5 Calgery. Canada

“To me, being Healthalicious sounds like a person who is committed to staying in top condition, and as a byproduct of that commitment, is more confident and attractive to others.” Albert Isordia

Here are some of our (and your) favorite ways to be Healthalicious:

Soul Sweat
Chantal Pierrat takes you beat by beat through Soul Sweat - a dance workout program that enhances coordination, tones your body, increases stamina and gives you a whole new repertoire of moves for the dance floor. Deep Sweat includes: warm-up, high-intensity dance session and cool-down.

Tai Chi for Weigh Loss
“Nature is all about balance, and the human body is no exception,” Says Scott Cole. “A body out of balance is a body that is not functioning efficiently.”

The Discover Tai Chi for Weight Loss workout helps you redefine your internal awareness and understanding by stimulating the mind/body connection, laying a new efficient blueprint of movement inspired by the ancient martial art of Tai Chi.

Walking
This couldn’t be more simple. All you do is plug in an address and the WalkScore.com breaks down for you how far the closest dining locations, movie theaters, schools, bookstores, bars, coffee shops, drug stores, parks, fitness clubs, even hardware stores, are from where your office, home, or wherever you might be.

At the top of the website your address will be given a walk-score based out of 1-100.

The top walkable cities are: San Francisco, New York, Boston and Chicago.
Miami and Dallas are not at the top but both of their walk-ratings are very high, and even in the least expected walkable cities there are walkable places. Walking also relieves stress and is a great way to lose a few pounds. Walking will help you get into a fitness routine during your day without much effort at all. Walking also buffs up your brain and makes you more alert and able to focus.

So the next time you are hungry or need a brain boost give yourself a Walkscore test at Walkscore.com. You might learn a thing or two about your neighborhood, or discover a city that you didn’t expect is actually walkable.

Lizetta Smith

I just wanted to share my total excitement about how I choose to live a healthy lifestyle. I used to weigh 225lbs and as a Pastor I was becoming short of breath while teaching, preaching etc. and I knew something had to be done. So with the divine help of God and my best friend I took control of the situation. Changed my diet and began to work out. It’s been four years now and at 39, I am the healthiest spiritually, physically and mentally I’ve ever been.

I try to help each of my students awaken a greater appreciation of his or her own unlimited power. I challenge my students to tap into their inner strength by applying the discipline and joy of a strong yoga practice to the whole of their lives, building and stretching body, mind and spirit.

My classes are accessible and enlivening, with a strong focus on healthy alignment, mixed with great music, creative sequencing, and humor.

If you want to be Healthalicious, find balance. Treat yourself well, and work on yourself in some way every day. A happy self is a more attractive, radiant self, with life, laughs, and love to share.
