Get Addicted to Water
Water is the best no calorie drink in all the world. What you may not realize is exactly why that is. Most of the human body is composed of water - the brain is 95% water; the lungs are 90%. Overall, approximately 70% of the human body is composed this stuff. Water plays a part in the prevention of certain types of cancer, keeping the kidneys flushed, weight loss and it keeps your complexion nice and clear.
We have always been encouraged to drink eight glasses of water per day, however Gilles Coulombe feels somewhat differently. He recommends a more personalized formula for water consumption - one glass for every 20 pounds of bodyweight. This compensates for different activity levels, climate temperatures and regulation of body temperature among people of differing sizes.
Surprisingly, dehydration is not all that uncommon, as many people tend to only drink when they are thirsty. Unbeknownst to some people, thirst is one of the earliest signs of dehydration. One method of determining your hydration level is a urine test. Simply look at the color; if it’s deep yellow, you’re showing signs of dehydration. If it’s pale yellow or clear, you’re good to go.
