Organic Beer: Green RelaxationIf you’re going to eat organic, you may as well do the full monty and drink organic, right? A recent article at Green Living Online reports that Americans consume approximately 7.4 BILLION gallons of beer each year. Given that beer has been known to contain possible carcinogens such as arsenic, asbestos, ethyl carbamate and acetaldehyde, by drinking these you could possibly put yourself at an increased risk of developing cancer of the mouth, larynx, pharynx or esophagus. Some beers also contain substances such as sulphur dioxide, protease and ammonia caramel. These have been deemed safe for consumption but are known to cause hangovers.

Where can you find organic beer? Easy - your local microbrewery. Visit one, take a tour, and grab some free samples while you are at it.

Buying organic has some additional pluses as well. It’s easier on your liver, as it will not have to filter out alcohol AND chemicals. Organic brews consistently rate high on well respected beer forums, so compromised taste is not an issue either.

Buying local suds is also more friendly to the environment, which should make it more appealing to those interested in going green. Sales of organic beer increased $10 million between 2003 and 2005, so it seems that there is definitely an appeal and demand for it.

beYOUmag.com covers more than just health and fitness. Wellness and relaxation are important too. For those of you who relax with a cold beer, try an organic one next time.
