Green Condoms & Eco-Clubbing
If living your life totally green, even in the bedroom, is your plan then you should consider green condoms. French Letter condoms are made by Fair Deal Trading, a green way to have safe sex.
Another way to get your groove on in a green way is eco-friendly clubs and eco friendly clubbing. London’s eco-friendly dance club Bar Surya generates it’s own electricity when dancers’ feet hit the floor. The club has an atmosphere that inspires ethical and green fashions which go with this eco-club.
Here is also some insight into other eco-clubs that are making the party scene more green:
Mike Zuckerman, Director of Sustainability at Temple nightclub in San Francisco, plans to make the trendy hot spot greener with, “compostable cups, straws, all corn starch based. We recycle our bottles and we compost our food. The easiest things to implement are the ones with immediate financial returns. We get rebates and receive credits on our waste bills by keeping up good recycling and composting practices.” At Temple even their cleaning products are eco-friendly. They are non-toxic, and the food from the menu is organic whenever possible. The lights that set the mood are even efficient bulbs.
Similar to Bar Surya, when Iggy pop preformed at Club Watt in Rotterdam, Holland, the enthusiasts on the dance floor actually helped to keep the bass thumping and lights flashing. At Club Watt, the energy from dancers hitting the ground is captured and transformed into energy for the clubs electricity.
Pretty eco-savvy huh?
In SoHo, nightlife is turning green with the new eco-friendly space: Greenhouse, which will launch in fall 2008. The dance floor and couches will be made from recyclable material, the club will have low voltage light and the alcohol will be organic and mixed with fresh juices. Also there will be fresh plants and a waterfall.
