Our guest this week, transformation guide, Jan Shepherd may not have heard of the word before today, but she’s been living it for quite some time now, having maintained a 200 pound weight loss for over 10 years. “I have yo-yoed between a size two to a size 32,” Jan shares. “I must have tried every diet ever invented and made up some on my own. My highest weight was 350 pounds. Every diet and program only led to more weight gain until I finally learned how to heal myself through the techniques of Personal Transformation.”

Pilates has gotten a bad rap recently as the housewives’ workout, but competitive athletes across the globe have know for almost a century now that real men do Pilates. Developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, these unique sequence of moves work the mind and muscle in harmony. Pilates helps to build and strengthen the core muscular system, allowing the large muscles and levers to work on explosive movements and strength. Just ask fans like Calvin Pace, Tiger Wood or Lebron James.

Growing up in a middle-class suburb of Cleveland, I hardly considered my family progressive. I learned to drive in our shiny, new 1982 Mercury Grand Marquis. The only thing green about that gas guzzling land yatch was its metallic Jade exterior. But I suppose hybrid cars were still a far off thought for most people at that time (although I will say, I can parallel park just about anywhere now). No, that part of my childhood seemed normal. It was the other habits that struck me as odd…at the time.

If you’re on Facebook like me (and let’s be honest, millions of us are), odds are good that you’ve been invited to bite, rate, vote on, compare or buy & sell your friends on a almost hourly basis. Most days, it can become down right annoying. True, I can also send them some good Karma (and who can’t use that), but without sounding too much like Andy Rooney, how is sending my friends another fruitless application going to shift the cosmic flow of the universe to reward me? I almost feel as if I’m going to receive bad Karma for such behavior.
